Watch out, France and Co, there is a new surrender monkey on the block and, over the next four years, he will spectacularly sell out the interests of the West with every kind of liberal-delusionist initiative on nuclear disarmament and sitting down to negotiate with any power freak who wants to buy time to get a good ICBM fix on San Francisco, or wherever. If you thought the world was a tad unsafe with Dubya around, just wait until President Pantywaist gets into his stride.
Bartiromo Talks with Sarah Palin
Great interview (though I cringed at the "McCain=Maverick" meme...) Best part comes at the end.
I'm doing a pro-life speech. Four months ago, my fifth child was born with Down syndrome…so I value innocent life. It took many months for me to get my arms around the idea of, first, having a fifth child at my age, but also knowing that my child would have an extra chromosome. But I prayed the whole time, "God, just prepare me, prepare my heart and prepare my family." And talk about confirmation of that prayer, I mean, Trig is just—he is to me—absolutely perfect. And everybody's in love with him, and he's the sweetest little baby in the world.
Still not convinced to vote for McCain, but I could vote for Lapin.
John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth. Like McCain, pollsters assured us that Dole was the most "electable" Republican. Unlike McCain, Dole didn't lie all the time while claiming to engage in Straight Talk.
I also agree with every word of what she says here, even when it comes to campaigning/voting for Hillary over McCain.
See, Hillary at least acknowledges that she is a democrat. Sadly, many in the republican party are sharing McCain's delusion that he somehow represents the conservative republican base. This mass hallucination is leading to the self-destruction of the republican party.
Slightly unrelated... this mystery bears some looking into.

Hey, all you northeast establishment republicrats trying to shove Guiliani down our red state throats, listen up: Iowans see him as a worse choice than Ron Paul!
- Thirty-four percent of likely caucusgoers see him as one of the worst choices for the Republican nomination. Paul ranks second in that category, at 26 percent.
- While 61 percent regard Giuliani favorably, 38 percent have unfavorable feelings toward him. Only Paul has a higher unfavorable mark in the poll, at 44 percent.
"He's too New York," Whittaker, the retired teacher, said of Giuliani. "He doesn't understand us. He doesn't care to understand us."
We're leaving for Arkansas this weekend. Whenever you travel from Texas to anywhere else in the US, by the time you get out of Texas you're halfway there. Case in point; from a USA Today article on the nation's "Emergency Room Crisis."
Doctors here cite horror stories, such as the patient who died after being diverted by helicopter from a Houston hospital to one in Austin.
1,600 miles is roughly the distance from Mexico to Canada along the proposed "NAFTA Superhighway." David and Carol Porter made the drive in about three hours. That's an amazing 463 miles per hour over the speed limit!
Kinky and Gran'ma must be besides themselves over the fact that Goodhair isn't even targeting them in his advertising. With so many running, he's directing his ads against the fella most likely to not have a chance of upsetting the race. And doing it in hilarious fashion.
This disgruntled evangelical conservative homeschooling red-stater in George W. Bush's home district is sick and tired of the republican machine expecting me to take whatever they dish out. They shoved an unproven political novice with inept campaign skills into a fierce cage match with a seasoned bare knuckler. Van Taylor will get his head handed to him, and he will have no one to blame but himself. I doubt that I will pull the lever for Chet, but I'm fairly certain I won't be votng for Van. He has done nothing to earn my vote.

Who says Kinky can't be bought? Only $29.95!
Willien Nelson has come out swinging for Kinky. (Note to self... try to not ever use swinging and Kinky in the same sentence. Ever.)
In an interesting campaign strategy shift, Nelson indicates that Kinky might actually have an issue that voters would be motivated by. Yes, folks, bio-diesel is the dark-horse issue of the 2006 goobernatorial election. Nelson's compelling argument for electing the sobriety challenged Friedman;
"I support Kinky Friedman and I support biodiesel fuel, because they can give us the two things we desperately need in Texas: clean energy and clean government."
God created whiskey to keep the Irish from taking over the world.
For what it's worth, I'm sure Kinky has the Wierd Austin vote locked up. The politically apathetic and ingnorant block is surely to go strongly his way as well, seeing as the only thing that brings them to the polls is ridiculous schtick such as his boorsih campaign revels in. People seriously taking a closer look at the man (profanity alert) will quickly find that he is not one to be taken as a serious person.

Takin' the good with the bad.
Last night's election brought a mixed bag of results. In the local races, the judges I supported mostly won, and the JP I opposed was turned out. If I were less modest, I'd speculate that my letter to the editor helped start the groundswell against him. Seeing as we're filing our fourth case in his court in the next day or two, I think I'll just be quiet about that for now.
Looking at a map of the 17th district, there seems to be a north/south divide. While the southern end of the district went strongly for Anderson, those yankees in the north gave Taylor the needed margin to win. I've got to say that our little corner of the district has been treated like a stepchild for the last few redistricting episodes. In the last ten years we have been included north of Houston, and then north of Austin, and now south of Dallas. Through it all, we've been hard pressed to find a representative that truly represents us. This is the reason Chet Edwards will win again in the general election.
UNHINGED 2
When Republican congressional candidates go bonkers
The way Van Taylor has been conducting his campaign, it appears he may be trying to inspire a sequel to Malkin's book...
Until recently, I've been somewhat undecided on the Texas 17th District congressional race. I think I'm the kind of likely voter Van Taylor seeks to sway- Conservative, Christian, Pro-Life, Loyal Texican-American. For the last week or so, my mailbox has been deluged by slick four-color full page fliers sent courtesy of the Van Taylor campaign. These expensively produced fliers carry a consistent message- According to Van Taylor's campaign, Anderson is a two-faced tax evading clinton loving leftest liar. About the only slam Taylor hasn't laid on Anderson is accusing him of supporting Kinky for Governor.
(Sidenote- all you Kinky Friedman nuts out there; you guys are just plain twisted. Sober up and get a whiff of reality.)
